Let’s Keep STRESS Away From This Holiday Season!

If you are like me and most of the people I know, you are inclined to let the “Holiday Season” get, maybe not the best of you, but a good part of you in the form of STRESS!!. You know - closing out the year, establishing next year’s budget, finishing up late performance reviews, turning in last minute expense reports, etc., etc., etc.,.

So, my idea this year is to give myself an early Christmas gift. I invite YOU to do the same and join me by taking a pledge to NOT allow STRESS!! of any kind trip you up this holiday season.

Now, I am not suggesting we become irresponsible and not do what we know must get done. But there is something we can do to take the STRESS!! out of all of it. You cannot avoid certain responsibilities like decorating the house, baking goodies, buying and wrapping presents, and attending social events! Maybe even just thinking about all that needs to be done starts to cause those familiar pressured feelings - otherwise known as STRESS!!

Don’t let that happen!

Why not think of it this way…You are going to do these things – and they will get done!

So instead, realize that you and you alone can change your attitude! Use your control over your attitude to make it work for you by looking at most of your obligations and responsibilities as something to enjoy doing. Where possible, use your creativity to bring in some fun. For instance, involve others in decorating, play music while you catch up on your expense reports, add some good ideas for people whose performance review you’re doing. In other words, think hard about doing things just a little differently by adding some value that will make you proud. Give yourself permission to get gutsy and drop a few tasks from the list that may be nice to do but can wait!

Do these things as your own gift to you as a way of bringing cheer to the holidays. This will make you happier and, on top of that, you will be a joy to be around!

Let’s Celebrate!
